Here's the list of birds we saw on the trip in 2000. Collectively we saw 69 species on Saturday, April 1, and 65 species Sunday morning, April 2, for a total of 97 species. The count numbers shown below are conservative; I don't think I marked down every time we saw the more common species.

The species we missed that I saw while scouting on Thursday and Friday were:
Pied-billed Grebe at Eagle Lake
Neotropic Cormorant at Eagle Lake
Anhinga at Eagle Lake and Attwater
Green Heron at Attwater (Sycamore Trail)
American Wigeon at Eagle Lake
Osprey at Eagle Lake
Bald Eagle at Eagle Lake (adult) and Attwater (juv.)
Broad-winged at Eagle Lake
Spotted Sandpiper at Attwater
Wilson's Phalarope at Attwater
Franklin's Gull at Eagle Lake
Inca Dove at Eagle Lake
Northern Flicker (yellow-shafted) at Attwater
Blue Jay at Eagle Lake
Black-and-white Warbler at Eagle Lake
Western Meadowlark at Attwater
Although we missed these 16 species on the weekend, we saw 21 species which I missed during scouting. The biggest difference was the weather which was bright and sunny on Thursday and Friday, but overcast and rainy on the weekend.
In addition, Rob Lewis, visiting from Boston, told us he saw a Peregrine Falcon and a Swallow-tailed Kite in the same places we birded at Attwater and only about an hour difference in time. Guess that's the luck of birding.
